Before and After School Enriched Daycare Program (B.A.S.E.)

The Cedarcrest BASE Daycare Program is a day supervision service, organized outside class hours for kindergarten and elementary school students.

About the Daycare

The main objective of our qualified team of educators is to guide the children through educational experiences conductive to the social, emotional and physical growth of each child. Our daycare offers a caring, safe learning environment that promotes respect.

The daycare's philosophy, purpose and goals are:

  1. To ensure the safety and general well being of the children.
  2. To offer homework support after school to the students with an appropriate place in which to work.
  3. To encourage the development of social skills such as respect and co-operation to others.
  4. To set up activities and recreational projects that contribute to the children’s overall development.

Our daycare is in compliance with the Quebec Education Act and the bugetary rules of the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS).

Activities

Upon completion of homework period the daycare also offers a variety of enriching extra-curricular activities in keeping with the needs and interests of the children. Daily activities are free of charge and supervised by qualified staff.

Children can participate in activities such as:

  • Arts and Crafts
  • Reading Club
  • Storybook Creation
  • Team Sports (hockey, basketball, soccer, etc.)
  • Hip Hop
  • Glee Club
  • Play it Fair! program

Snack Program

In order to improve motivation, learning performance and concentration, the daycare provides students with a healthy nut-free snack. Students will develop healthy eating habits that will lead to living a healthier lifestyle.

Homework Period

Students are allotted specific time every day to begin their homework in a quiet and studious environment. Daycare educators are at hand to assist students with their assignments. Parents should still verify their child's homework at home.

Fee Structure


Daycare fee structure is based on the student’s status in the daycare. A student’s status is designated as Regular, Sporadic or Occasional.
Regular:
(For a maximum of five hours)
$8.95/day
Sporadic + Occasional:
(On regular school days)
Fees are based on the blocks the student attends, partial or full, and varies per school depending on the time of each daycare period.
Pedagogical Day:
(For a total of 10 hours.
Additional activity fees may apply)
$12.00 / day
A regular student is one who is registered and attending Daycare for a minimum of one to five days a week and a minimum of two periods a day. This applies to students who attend on a weekly basis and follow a fixed schedule.
A sporadic student is one who is registered and attending Daycare for one period a day (AM, LUNCH or PM). Please note that the lunch period is considered a block. A sporadic student is also someone who is registered and attends on a pedagogical day.
An occasional student is one who is registered but does not have a forecasted attendance and does not attend on a weekly basis. Daycare Services are needed for emergency purposes. The parent/guardian must give the daycare a 24-hour notice when possible and keep in mind that it is not a guarantee that their child(ren) will be put in the same daycare group as their classmates.

Pedagogical Days

Daycare is also available on pedagogical days.

Outings or planned activities will be organized for each pedagogical day that the daycare is open. Additional fees may be charged for the outing or activity.

Daily Schedule

Morning: 7:00 a.m. to 7:55 a.m.
Afternoon: 2:20 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Please note that the daycare closes promptly at 6:00 p.m. An additional fee of $1.00/minute will be added to your statement for late pick-ups.

Daycare is not available during daycare staff professional days, spring break, statutory holidays and the summer.
